La DadeKotopon: EC officers complain over lack of logistics for district level elections
Electoral officers at various polling stations in the La Dadekotopon Constituency in the Greater Accra Region complained about the Electoral Commission’s inability to provide some logistics for the district level elections.
The officers lamented that the EC failed to provide them with tables, chairs and canopies to enable them to perform their roles.
According to them, but for the intervention of some of the candidates, they would be working at the mercy of the weather.
“It was one of the unit committee members who came to our aid but I don’t know his name. the Electoral Commission did not make provision for canopies, tables and chairs. You have to solicit from the people in the area,” one officer stated.
“They promised to bring the canopies but we have been waiting since morning and they have not brought it. So, one of the candidates brought these tables and canopies,” another officer said.
“They claim they will bring some, so we are waiting for them. There is a school here, so we spoke to the headmaster who gave us some of the tables and chairs. But we have called the District Officer, so we are hoping he will bring it before voting ends,” an officer said.
