Exclusive : Denyigba Radio 90.9 FM Donates To Tongu Flood Victims.
Following the devastating floods after the spillage of water from the Akosombo and Kpong dams , which affected the Tongu areas of the Volta region especially, Denyigba Radio took the initiative to appeal to listeners, businesses and friends ; to support it in mobilizing items and cash to support victims of the disaster.
At a brief ceremony at Sogakope on Friday 27th of October, 2023, a delegation led by the Chief Executive Officer handed over assorted items received from listeners to member of parliament for South Tongu Hon. Kobby Woyome; on behalf of the affected communities.
The Denyigba Radio Chief Executive emphasized that as a social enterprise;the station is ever ready to innovate or follow suit meaningful ways of helping alleviate suffering among the populace in difficult times , just as much as developing programs to boost socio-economic development of our areas- aside the core business of serving news information and entertainment to listeners.
The South Tongu Mp in accepting the items, thanked Denyigba Radio for the good example and asked God to bless and help grow the station so it becomes a pillar of hope and intervention in the region anytime the need arises.
The Mp hinted that the water had started receding in some areas – however there is still problems at areas close to the estuary. He said their biggest fear at this point is “disease outbreak” and so all stakeholders are highly alert to adequately check these possibilities adequately.
Hon. Kobby Woyome highlighted the fact that disasters of such nature know not our political colors and so his outfit is working hand in hand with the National Disaster
Management Organization and the Municipal Assembly to bring relief to all – and thus put smiles back on the faces of everybody affected.
The Mp thanked Denyigba listeners most especially and asked that more persons get onboard and support the station also- for sustainable development.
