Cristiano Ronaldo hints he could retire from football next year
Cristiano Ronaldo has dropped a hint that he could retire from football next year.
The 34-year-old signed a four-year deal with Juventus last summer and went on to help them to the Serie A title in his first season at the club.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner previously said that he is in the shape to continue performing at the highest level for plenty more years to come, but footballer is now looking at hanging up his boots in 2020.
Speaking in a recent interview, the former Real Madrid striker told Portugal TV station TV1: ‘I don’t think about that (retirement).
‘Maybe I can leave my career next year… but I can also play up to 40 or 41.
‘I don’t know. What I always say is to enjoy the moment. The gift is excellent and I have to continue to enjoy it.’
The former Manchester United and Real Madrid star who is among the most decorated players in the game has won domestic titles in three different countries.
Speaking on his achievements, he said: ‘Are there any soccer players who have more records than me?
‘I don’t think there are any footballers who have more records than me,’ he added.
