Sonuto- Kumadekope residents cry for potable water
The chiefs and people of Sonuto- Kumadekope in the Ketu south municipality are crying over deficient sources of potable water which impel them to depend on dugout water for domestic uses.
The community of more than 500 residents get water only when they dugout water a situation which led to struggle for water in the community, residents have to wake-up at 12:am just to get potable water.
Speaking to the Assembly member for the area Francis Kportiskla, he said water crisis in the area is a very big situation, he said women and children have to wake-up midnight just to get potable water before getting ready for school and other daily activities which could pose a threat to teaching and leaning in schools.
” I made an appeal to the MCE and individuals and they promise to help provide us with potable water ”
Noah Setsoafia, unit committee organizer said people in the community need potable water and he think community members can contribute to solve but things are not moving well for them.
Representative of Torgbui Adzakpo chief of the area said the water situation was a source of worry to them as it could lead to residents contracting diseases like cholera, diarrhea and typhoid.
” we want government to help us get potable water, we are also in diehard in need of roads and hospital”
he again appeal to government, NGOS and individuals to come and help solve water problem in the area.
